Embarassed

2 minute read

Usually when I submit an app for review there’s some back and forth before it gets launched, but Trombonest’s review on Quest App Lab was pretty quick.

At this point I’ve had so many initial app rejections that I just instinctively know what not to do with a submission.

Since it launched so quick, I wasn’t able to do a few quality improvements that I wanted to do before launch.

I’m so embarassed by the audio quality of Trombonest that I can’t even promote it on social media because it sounds terrible and I’m actually embarassed.

Worse yet, the price is locked for 30 days.

I hacked together blending of sounds to make transitions between notes sound natural (adjcent note blending), but ultimately I think the soundfont I’m using is trash and it sounds so bad.

I should have done this before, but I’m taking the pre-recorded sounds that I used for the mobile Trombonest and making a new soundfont using some old program that I found when I pared down the size of the sf2.

I want to do this by Saturday so I can start promoting Trombonest when a package arrives that contains a device I’m going to use to make my next instrument app…

Nothing is easy, but the path is clear.

Another thing I love about App Lab: I can push updated APKs immediately. Truly move fast and fix things.
