Solving Hard Problems

1 minute read

The easiest way to solve a hard problem is to not solve it.

There’s some hack that can get you by until you’re sinking without a solution.

Startups are like the scene in Pirates of the Caribbean where the sailboat is sinking as Captain Jack is sailing into port.

You don’t need to solve hard problems.

You just need to survive.

Thinking leads to more thinking. Doing leads to clarity.

Attempting to solve a hard problem before it’s needed leads to overthinking.

Overthinking prevents you from being decisive.

Indecision leads to stagnation.

The solution to a hard problem is not ambiguous when you actually need to solve it. It’s crystal clear.

Otherwise you’re making things hard for yourself so you can continue to think.

Since thinking leads to more thinking, just don’t do that.

Only think when you need to.

Otherwise just trust your gut instinct and do whatever it tells you to do.
